The lil’ foamcore display for our table spot at C.U.F.F.! Independent Video magazine, where are you?

At the first Chicago Underground Film Festival, there was a “Chicago Underground Scene” table to promote stuff and hand out swag. Independent Video magazine was kind enough to publish an interview with me and then give me copies of the issue to sell or giveaway during CUFF. I think I have LOST my copy of the magazine, but I still have the table display ad! CUFF also let me write a crazy rant to inspire? scare? people to produce Cable Access TV as well as independent films, so there’s that too!MAS.Press.CUFFrantMAS.CUFFlabel  MAS.Press.IndiVideoDisplayAd

  1. Back in 1998 I met and began working with an independent low budget filmmaker ( Joe Bagnardi ) on his first feature film ‘ Shadow Tracker: Vampire Hunter ‘. It inspired me to learn more about other filmmakers working with 8mm /. He’s cameras.

About that same time period I discovered / subscribed to James Stanger’s zine publication – Independent Video. Collected every issue as he progressed from basic xerox to a mainline glossy publication. Was disappointed when he had to cease publishing his magazine. It was definite,y unique .

I had hoped he would eventually re-publish his work on an internet site but haven’t come across it . I was Pleased to see that you recognized his work / contribution to low films with this random post. Hope you follow through with more posts related to his work. Maybe it will inspire Mr. stanger to re-start Independent Video. Thanks for listening ! Sincerely, Edward Dimmer [ Lake Ariel, Pa ]

    • Oh! And I recall there was an issue of Independent Video with a review of the M.A.S. show as well. And then…that led me to write my own article or interview for a later issue. If you could share a scan of that “review” for me or anything related to Miss Artificial Spring in any of I.V. issues to share here, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you so much.

  2. Hi Edward!
So sorry for the delayed response. Thank you so much for your comment. Unfortunately I lost all of my issues of Independent Video. Most likely, I let someone borrow them and never saw that someone again. Ha ha! Happened a lot. That’s okay. I hope they were read and enjoyed. However, I would LOVE a pdf file of the article I wrote for Independent Video to share with everyone. If you could email me a scan of that it would be much appreciated and I’ll add it to this M.A.S. website. Thanks again! You can reach me at kkuvo@nyu.edu
    Cheers!
